Communication Specialist
Alex is an author, photographer and marketer who joined the UMPR team in September 2022. You may recognize his name from places ranging from The Wall Street Journal, Men’s Journal and Backpacker Magazine, to MPR and The Meateater Podcast. His memoir, The Twenty-Ninth Day; Surviving a Grizzly Attack in the Canadian Tundra, started as a journal, turned into his college admissions essay, and went on to become a national and regional bestseller and finalist for the MN Book Award. Alex’s love of Duluth and passion for storytelling will be put to good use with UMD’s PR, Media Relations and content development.
