Door Signs
In an effort to establish consistency in wayfinding around campus, please use the template when creating door signs for offices.
Email Signatures
In an effort to establish consistency in the way we all share contact information with our audiences, an email signature template has been developed. We have implemented this with University Relations and ask for your help in implementing this guideline within your colleges and units. Please note that this template is based on email signature best practices and does not allow for the addition of graphics, images, or other brand elements. You have the option to indicate a gender identity and/or personal pronoun in your email signature.
To use, select the version that best applies to your situation. To use the template:
- Copy the selected version, be sure to include "-- " (dash dash space) on a separate line at the start of your signature—this will ensure many email clients (including Gmail) will recognize it as a signature
- Open your email settings and go to the “signature” section
- Paste your selected email version into the “signature” section
- Customize your information
- Click “Save changes” at bottom of screen
Best Practices:
- Keep your email signature as simple as possible (4 lines for one unit and 8 lines for two units)
- Personal quotes, logos, images or icons are not recommended
- If you would like to include social media links, we recommend linking text instead of a social media icon
- Unit lock ups should not be used in email signatures. Unit names should appear in plain text as part of your contact information
Signature Options
Letterheads and Business Cards
Official University stationery--business cards, letterhead, and envelopes--must be used for all University business. Separately incorporated, University-affiliated foundations, and alumni associations may use official stationery, but are not required to. Official stationery may not be used for personal business, by students, or by anyone not employed by the University.
Official letterhead may not be personalized. Printing letterhead with department-wide or unit-wide information ensures that it can be used by everyone in that unit. Individualized information can be conveyed with business cards that follow the University’s official standards.
Official business cards, letterhead, and envelopes must be ordered through one of the University of Minnesota printing departments listed below.
