Inclusive Event Planning

Event Day

It could be useful to start the event with an access check-in. Some talking points to consider:

Licensing

Licensing

All products that are imprinted with a UMD trademark require licensing, including internal use by academic and administrative departments, student organizations, and other internal units. These trademarks include the name of the university, the intercollegiate athletics logos and wordmarks, including "UMD Bulldogs," and all other identifying marks of the university.

Policy and Guidelines

Logo Policy

All marks are reserved for official University business and may not be used to promote non-University activities or imply endorsement.

Third party logos used in conjunction with University marks must be approved by Trademark Licensing. No third-party logos should be included in any official University communication without a signed agreement between the University and the outside vendor or company. Whenever possible, sponsors or collaborators should be indicated in text, not with a logo.

Athletic Marks

The bulldog Champ trademark is reserved for Bulldog athletics as well as general campus spirit. The primary mascot mark is the gold Champ head, which reiterates our school colors and provides brand consistency. The secondary marks are also shown below. The gray Champ and skating Champ marks are heritage marks and their use is limited to select items approved by our Trademark Licensing Program, all other uses should be phased out.

Usage

Consistency in the use of University trademarks, templates, and guidelines strengthen our messaging across campus. University Marketing and Public Relations should be consulted whenever it is not clear whether a proposed use is permissible.

All artwork requires approval either by using a licensed vendor or by submitting your project to UMPR for brand review.
